šŸš€ Q4 Opportunities: Pattern, Lens Live & Growth Categories

Revenues may be under pressure, but growth categories and smarter sourcing strategies are creating opportunities. Find out how to stay ahead.

Welcome back to Seller Snacks, your weekly buffet of ecommerce goodness.

This week, we’ve got proof that reselling can scale to a multi-million dollar business, a safety net for sellers with clean noses, the latest in Amazon’s tariff drama, and a cool new Amazon AI feature that lets shoppers shop with their phone camera.

Whether you’re flipping, sourcing, or binge-scrolling Keepa: grab a plate, we don’t judge.

On Today's Menu:

šŸš€ Pattern: Proof That Reselling Scales

Most Amazon success stories spotlight brand-builders. But Pattern, now IPO-bound, shows a very different path, one that online arbitrage sellers will find familiar.

Pattern doesn’t invent products. Instead, it partners with major brands like NestlĆ© and Panasonic to buy wholesale, resell at scale, and optimize everything through technology and data. Their strength lies in operational excellence: logistics, inventory management, and mastering Amazon’s rules to squeeze out every advantage.

Pattern proved that you can grow massive without ever owning a brand by being the most efficient, data-driven reseller in the room.

And this isn’t just an outlier. After almost disappearing in 2021, resellers now make up 8.8% of the top Amazon sellers. Pattern’s rise shows what’s possible when reselling evolves from a hustle into a system.

For OA sellers, this is validation. You don’t need to create the next household name to thrive. If you focus on sourcing smart, moving inventory at the right time, and continuously improving your systems, you’re already walking the same road Pattern took, just on a smaller scale (for now).

The lesson? In Amazon’s ecosystem, execution can be just as powerful as innovation. Pattern’s success proves that reselling isn’t just a side hustle; it’s a sustainable business model with real growth potential.

šŸ›”ļø Amazon’s Account Health Assurance: A Safety Net for Sellers

According to SellerBites, Amazon has rolled out Account Health Assurance (AHA), a program designed to protect sellers with consistently strong Account Health Ratings (AHR 250+) from sudden deactivation. Instead of an immediate suspension, an account health specialist will now reach out directly, giving you 72 hours to respond and fix the issue before drastic action is taken.

Enrollment is automatic (and free) for Pro sellers who’ve maintained their AHR for 6+ months, but the safety net doesn’t cover serious violations like fraud or deception.

For OA sellers who are more at risk, this is a big win: account suspensions can derail cash flow overnight, especially in Q4. AHA provides breathing room, ensuring that a single slip-up won’t instantly grind your business to a halt, as long as you stay responsive and keep your account metrics healthy.

šŸ“‰ Tariff Uncertainty & Shrinking Seller Revenues

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy recently addressed the growing trade tension, admitting it’s ā€œimpossible to know what will happenā€ once existing inventory buffers run out. For now, Amazon has kept consumer prices stable by buying forward and encouraging sellers to do the same, but the big question remains: who ultimately absorbs the cost of higher tariffs : Amazon, sellers, or shoppers?

While Jassy projects confidence, the story on the ground looks different. Reports show that a number of Amazon sellers have seen revenue and profit drop 60–80% year-over-year in recent months, with recession fears, rising costs, and tighter margins driving the decline.

It’s not all bad news, though: Shoppers are still spending money, although they are now more price-sensitive than ever. Moreover, the following product categories still experienced modest growth (year-over-year):

  • Sporting Goods - 8.52%

  • Health and Personal Care - 3.47%

  • General Merchandise - 3.18%

  • Grocery and Beverages - 2.59%

  • Clothing and Accessories - 2.71%

For online arbitrage sellers, this contrast is a wake-up call. Amazon’s scale allows it to weather uncertainty with bulk inventory strategies, but smaller sellers often lack that cushion. Now more than ever, lean sourcing, strict cash flow management, and careful buy-box pricing are critical to survival.

šŸ“ˆ Source Smarter: Strike Where the Growth Is

Even with tariffs and shrinking margins putting pressure on sellers, not every category is slowing down. Toys, health & wellness, beauty, and seasonal products continue to see strong demand, but the challenge is finding the right leads before everyone else does.

That’s where our lead lists come in. We curate high-ROI, action-ready leads in the categories that are still growing, so you can source with confidence, protect your margins, and keep sales moving even when the market feels uncertain.

šŸ“· Lens Live: New AI Tool Means More Ways for Customers to Find You

Amazon has introduced Lens Live, an AI-driven update to its visual search feature that lets customers shop in real time by simply pointing their camera at objects. The app uses advanced object detection to identify items and pulls up similar or matching listings in a swipeable carousel, allowing users to instantly add products to their cart or wish list, all without leaving the camera view. Lens Live builds on existing Lens technology by making the experience more seamless and spontaneous.

Rufus, Amazon’s conversational AI assistant, is integrated directly into Lens Live. As products are detected, Rufus provides smart summaries, answers user questions, and helps shoppers make better-informed decisions, all within the same screen. The feature currently has been rolled out to tens of millions of U.S. iOS users, with broader availability expected soon

What This Means for Sellers:

Lens Live represents a leap toward frictionless, impulse shopping that could significantly shift buying behaviors, making in-the-moment discovery as easy as a tap on your phone. For Amazon sellers, this means product listings may get discovered in entirely new contexts, turning real-world exposures into sales. Ensuring your products are visually distinct, mobile-optimized, and keyword-aligned has become more crucial than ever.

Deciding whether to jump on holiday-themed products can make or break your Q4. This quick decision framework we use gives you a clear way to weigh risk vs reward so you know when to push the pedal and when to hit the brakes.

A decision framework is only as strong as your ability to interpret the data behind it. If you want to sharpen your seasonal sourcing strategy, Chris Grant’s Keepa Academy is the place to learn.

šŸ”“ Gating and Ungating Updates:

  • Toys to be Hard-Gated? - as per Chris Grant’s post, Amazon will be requiring annual testing or a document from a Testing, Inspection, and Certification organization for toys sold on Amazon US and CA. No need to panic yet, because as of time of writing, we still don’t know if this will be on an offer or ASIN level.

  • Bye, Converse - according to this post from Ed Rosenberg’s Amazon sellers group, Converse has been hard-gated.

  • Inventory Lab Auto-Ungates - remember when we reported that Inventory Lab may increase the chances of you getting ungated? More IL users are reporting getting auto-ungated in previously restricted brands.

Here’s what one of our long-time subscribers had to say about our lead list:

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
ā€œMy experience with lead lists always turned into a dumpster fire until I subscribed to FBA Lead Lists. I have more than tripled my revenue and profits!

Every time I've tried a lead list, the same thing always happens. A race to the bottom in sales price, and I'm lucky just to break even on my investment.

With FBA Lead Lists, there may be a dollar or so price drop, but rarely any more than that, and a surprising number of items experience a dollar or two sales price increase.

What I appreciate about the lists is that I'm given a solid sell price based on historical data, accurate sourcing information like color, size, etc, a suggested purchase amount, and any coupons that are out there.

Better and more cost-effective than any VA I have hired on my own. This has been a real game-changer for me, and I really do appreciate the hard work everyone puts into making this happen.ā€
